Thousands attend funeral of slain N.Y. firefighter | Democrat and Chronicle | democratandchronicle.com: "WEBSTER, N.Y. -- Thousands of firefighters and police officers from across the United States and Canada came to Webster, N.Y., on Sunday to pay their respects to Webster Police Lt. Michael Chiapperini.

Led by dozens of bagpipers and drums, they processed two abreast into the auditorium of Schroeder High School. They held their hats over their hearts as they passed the flag-draped casket of their fallen brother.

Chiapperini, 43, and Tomasz Kac­zowka, 19, were fatally shot on Christmas Eve while responding to a fire in Webster. Kaczowka's funeral is scheduled for Monday."
