Weekend Box Office: Hobbit Lands Third Number One Against Les Mis and Django - CinemaBlend.com

Weekend Box Office: Hobbit Lands Third Number One Against Les Mis and Django - CinemaBlend.com: "The holiday was mostly kind to the new releases that rolled out on Christmas Day, and much of that Christmas cheer managed to carry over to the pre-New Year's weekend.

None of the new releases managed to overtake The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, leaving part one of the trilogy to reign over the box office for a third week in a row. Dropping just 10% from last weekend, it added $32 million and cruised pass the $200 million mark in domestic sales.

After banking $34 million over the three days since opening on Christmas Day Django Unchained added another $30 million this weekend to take second place.

Despite making slightly less than Django Unchained over the weekend, Les Miserables has done better over all since opening on Christmas. The musical took third place, adding $28 million for a domestic total of $67 million.
