They reported that Apple has no plans to buy Waze, the community-based traffic and navigation app. This is hours after TechCrunch posted that “Waze was hoping to net $750 million in an Apple buyout, but the iPhone maker was willing to offer only $400 million in cash and an additional $100 million in earn-outs, based on performance.”

How Google beat the feds - Tony Romm - POLITICO.com: "Google escaped from a nearly two-year federal antitrust probe with only a few scratches by proving that the best defense is a good offense.
Instead of ignoring Washington — as rival Microsoft did before its costly monopolization trial in the 1990s — Google spent about $25 million in lobbying, cozied up to the Obama administration and hired influential Republicans and former regulators. It even consulted with the late Robert Bork and The Heritage Foundation, while meeting with senators like John Kerry to make its case. In other words, these traditional outsiders worked the system from the inside."

FTC Settles Google Antitrust Investigation - ABC News: "After a high-profile 20-month investigation, the federal government announced today its dropping an "exhaustive" antitrust probe into Google, the world's largest search engine.
The Federal Trade Commission said it found no evidence the tech giant used unfair tactics to thwart competing sites. Google escaped the investigation without paying a fine, but it will voluntarily change some of its practices to be more open to competitors, the FTC said.
"The changes Google has agreed to make will ensure that consumers continue to reap the benefits of competition in the online marketplace and in the market for innovative wireless devices they enjoy," FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said. "This was an incredibly thorough and careful investigation by the commission, and the outcome is a strong and enforceable set of agreements.""

Google Maps Not Perfect Too?: "The relationship of contract between Google and Apple was announced to be dropped in the month of September which resulted in the dismissal of the Google maps in iOS.
After Apple Inc. went through lot of troubles with the company's own map especially in Australia, the company restored its relationship with Google allowing Google Map to be in the iOS. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO also apologized publicly for the Apple map errors.
Now Google map has arrived iOS finally. Google maps are really reliable and informative. The reason is lot of years has been spent in hand-editing of the maps by hundreds of Google employees correcting thousands of errors which people reported each day. Since 2006, Google's street vehicles have hunted more than 3000 cities, clicking and making sure of the accuracy of the maps, according to Tampa Bay Times."
